Watch "Walang Sugat" by Severino Reyes and Fulgencio Tolentino Print E-mail

We invite you to watch Walang Sugat by Severino Reyes and Fulgencio Tolentino

Warm greetings from the Ateneo de Manila University!

We are pleased to invite you to be part of a significant cultural event in the life of the University. Walang Sugat is a sarsuwela by Severino Reyes and Fulgencio Tolentino. It is the most popular of Reyes’ plays and is said to have triggered the “golden age” of Filipino sarsuwelas. On February 20, 2010, Walang Sugat comes to the Ateneo in a special Gala Night, and makes history as the first sarsuwela to grace the Ateneo stage.

As well as being a celebration of the culture, artistry, and the indomitable spirit of the Filipino, the Walang Sugat Gala Night is also a call to greater generosity. Proceeds of the event will go to the Ateneo’s 500@150 Sesquicentennial Scholarship Campaign which aims to raise 500 new scholarships to benefit the best and the brightest young Filipinos, regardless of economic circumstance. It is fitting that Walang Sugat’s message of hope should, in this case, be a vehicle to bring hope to many deserving but underprivileged students.

May we then expect you at the Walang Sugat Gala Night on February 20? Together, let us rediscover our country’s rich literary and artistic tradition, and awaken within ourselves the spirit of giving to others, for God and country.

Tickets to the Walang Sugat sarsuwela are available at the Loyola Schools Bookstore at the basement of the MVP Center for Student Leadership, AdMU Loyola Heights campus.

Ticket prices for the Gala Night on February 20 are: PhP5,000, PhP3,500, & PhP2,000. Ticket price for the regular showdates on February 24-28 is: PhP250. Please call 4266001 ext. 5185 for inquiries and reservations.
